Cart placement
•Place wheels in street against the curb with the cart opening facing the street. •Place carts out no earlier than 5 p.m. the day before pick-up and remove no later than 7 a.m. the day after pick-up. Carts must be removed from the street. •To discourage scavenging, place carts out the morning of pick-up. •Carts should be three feet from each other and from parked vehicles. •Make sure nothing is blocking the front of the carts and that the carts do not block bike lanes or sidewalks.
Accepted carts The only acceptable carts are 35-, 65- and 95-gallon carts supplied by Davis Waste Removal. Davis Waste Removal will not pick up any garbage or recycling not in the cart, with the exception of flattened cardboard, which may be stacked next to the cart.
Placing yard refuse in the street •All grass clippings must be placed loose in the street. •Do not block bicycle lanes or sidewalks. •Maximum size for brush piles is 5’x5’x5’. Branch diameter may not exceed 8”. •Yard refuse should be placed in street the day before collection.
Recycling Residential recycling carts (and the trucks that service them) have two separate compartments to reduce paper contamination and maximize the amount of paper recycled. Follow the label on each lid detailing what can be placed inside the cart's compartments. Place paper and smaller cardboard pieces in one side. Place rigid plastics, glass bottles and cans in the other side. Plastic bags still must be taken to grocery stores to recycle. Cardboard boxes larger than two cubic feet should be flattened and placed next to the curb. Do not place trash inside the recycling cart. Keeping carts and street clean To prevent flies in carts, keep them clean and sanitary by cleaning out any residue built up. Make sure to put any litter in carts to ensure the community is clean and litter-free.
